Position Summary:

The Director of Ancillary Services is accountable for operational aspects of Ancillary Services at McLaren Oakland, including quality outcomes, efficiency, costs, and patient satisfaction. Responsible for directing patient care and support services including Diagnostic Imaging, Interventional Radiology, Laboratory and Vascular Laboratory. Ensures the delivery of high quality and cost-effective healthcare consistent with the Mission, Vision, and Values of McLaren Oakland and in accordance with government regulations, licensing, and accreditation requirements. Actively participates in the hospital's strategic planning and contributes to the achievement of institutional goals and objectives. 

 Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Administers the strategic planning and development of goals and objectives for the assigned departments consistent with the facility strategic plan.
  2. Oversees departmental operations including developing, implementing, and monitoring charging mechanisms to insure efficient and complete capture of all charges.
  3. Promotes positive internal and external relations by actively seeking and being responsive to customer feedback.  Supports and participates in continuous quality improvement activities.
  4. Directs the implementation of new service programs.
  5. Responsible and accountable for patient satisfaction scores for the assigned departments.
  6. Interacts with physicians and other departments to resolve operational concerns and improve interdepartmental relationships.
  7. Oversees development and maintenance of quality control programs necessary to safeguard the welfare of patients, staff, and equipment.
  8. Develops and maintains cooperative working relationships with physicians and patient care departments to gather and exchange pertinent patient information and coordinate services.
  9. Serves as a resource to subordinates in resolving complex problems and in investigating and recommending corrective action in response to incident reports and/or patient complaints.
  10. Develops annual capital and operational budgets
  11. Interviews, hires, evaluates the performance of and, when necessary, disciplines and discharges staff.
  12. Demonstrates understanding and competence in all areas of Evidenced Based Leadership including leader rounding, stoplight reports, 30/90-day conversations, leadership development institutes, linkage grids, skills validation, AIDET, hourly rounding, and High-Middle-Low conversations.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related health care field
  • Seven years Diagnostic Imaging experience
  • Five years leadership experience

       Preferred:

  •  Graduate degree, preferably in Healthcare or Business Administration.
  • Active and current license in one of the disciplines under the leader's  scope of responsibility .
