This position has oversight of Outreach Laboratory Services.

Position Summary:

Responsible for the overall management of assigned department including administrative, financial, compliance, quality improvement, technical, and personnel activities in accordance with established policies and standards. Meets and consults with system director of laboratory for policies, procedures, forms, instrumentation, equipment, supplies, and Laboratory Information System (LIS) to promote standardization across the system.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

1. Directs and coordinates laboratory activities to insure that services are provided on schedule with quality and cost objectives.

2. Commits to achievement of financial objectives and strategies by developing and implementing strategic plans for all aspects of laboratory operations, including budgets and process improvement activities.

3. Develops professional relationships within the organization, the community and professional organizations to facilitate collaborative initiatives, problem solving and goodwill.

4. Ensures that all laboratory activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state, federal, and governmental regulations and laws.

5. Develops and trains personnel within the laboratory and reviews and appraises their performance.

6. Establishes laboratory organization plan and delegates responsibilities, authorities and accountabilities to appropriate subordinates.

Required:

• Baccalaureate degree in medical technology or related fields.

• Eight years of lab experience including at least three years in a managerial role.

• MT (ASCP) or equivalent.

 

Preferred: 

• Master’s degree in medical technology, business administration or health services administration.

 

Position/Subsidiary Specific:

• Valid driver’s license, proof of valid auto insurance, and maintain a driving record in accordance with McLaren’s corporate driving policy and eligibility guidelines
