Manager Laboratory Support Services
Position Summary:
Responsible for the overall operation of non-technical areas within and outside the laboratory. Areas of responsibility can include specimen processing, reports processing, problem resolution, client services, clerical support, and patient service centers. Participates in the development and achievement of quality, service, outcomes research, fiscal productivity and customer/employee satisfaction goals and objectives.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Oversees daily operations, including assignment of lab staff and monitoring performance of the processes in the assigned areas to ensure that area specific departments of responsibility are harmonized with the central laboratory.
2. Purchases or approves purchases of equipment and supplies, maintains inventory and instrument maintenance.
3. Coordinates and conducts education and training programs for staff, other corporate personnel, and external customers. Develops and implements standard operating procedures (SOPs). Oversees staff development and evaluation of new products and procedures to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
4. Develops and maintains appropriate quality assurance procedures; ensures compliance with current safety requirements; coordinates activities with other state and federal agencies and entities.
5. Participates in developing and monitoring long range planning and budgeting processes in conjunction with operations management, researches and makes recommendations for new capital equipment and areas of growth and contracts for reagents and instrumentation.
6. Maintains current knowledge of advances in laboratory technology; federal and state regulations; attends seminars, lectures, meetings, and professional conferences. Maintains an awareness of emerging technology in the field of specialty.
Required:
• Associate degree in related field
• Five years related work experience.
Preferred:
• Three years of supervisor experience in a clinical laboratory
