Supervisor Care Management
Position Summary: Performs all functions necessary to provide case management services in a safe, efficient, friendly, and cost-effective manner. Supervises the Case Management Department day to day operations, staffing, and systems. Responsible for basic human resources functions including employment decisions, training of new and existing employees, and staff evaluations. May also function as a case manager.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Assigns work to employees and directs the work flow in the Case Management Department.
- Manages workload, supervises case managers and support staff; resolves daily challenges that present during assigned shift.
- Ensures accurate, timely, and appropriate case management services, in compliance with all healthcare regulatory requirements and applicable state and federal laws.
- Collaborates with other hospital departments to promote cooperation and efficient in providing patient's case management needs.
- Maintains inventory of supplies necessary to provide services.
- Ensures policies and procedures regarding case management activities are followed.
- Provides daily supervision of operations, including performance management of the staff and problem resolution.
- Actively participates in and supports education programs and scholarly activity.
- May perform the functions of a case manager as needed.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Performs other related duties as required and directed.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of nursing
- State of Michigan licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Five years of acute care clinical experience and two years of utilization review experience.
Preferred:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification as a Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association or equivalent through the Military Training network (MTN).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of healthcare regulatory, reimbursement, and accreditation systems.
