Surgical Technologist Certified
Position Summary:
Perform functions to assist the operative team in the delivery of perioperative nursing care to return patient to optimal health.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Demonstrates knowledge and competency in performing basic and specific surgical technician skills related to the role.
2. Assists the RN, Surgeon, Anesthesiologist, Physician Assistant, and Perfusionist in the delivery of perioperative nursing care delineated by pre-operative and post-operative functions.
3. Demonstrates safe medication management within operative field.
4. Maintains a safe patient care environment.
5. Responds to real or simulated emergency and disaster situations according to established procedure.
6. Demonstrates competency in the utilization of specified equipment required for patient care.
7. Assists the RN in the development of surgeon specific preference cards.
8. Assumes responsibility for maintaining knowledge base and skills through continuing education and other learning experiences.
9. Functions as assistant in cardiovascular procedures and as a first scrub or assistant in other specialties.
10. Participates in performance improvement activities.
11. Provides for the age specific needs of the population served according to department standards, as evidenced by observation, documentation, and peer feedback.

12. Performs other related duties as required and directed.
Qualifications:
Required:
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Graduation from an approved program for OR Technologists or minimum three years experience as a Surgery Technologist
· Certification as an Operating Room Technologist, if not current must be obtained within six (6) months of hire/transfer
· CPR issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross
